Personal Statement

  • I would like to fulfil the potential I have shown so far in golf and in academia.
  • In the short term I want to continue to improve my fitness, my swing and my golf handicap and would like to achieve a scratch handicap within a year. Whilst it is important that my scores in the short term improve it is also vitally important that I work hard to improve my swing and fitness as that will give me the best chance of achieving my long term potential and goal of being a professional golfer.
  • I have a desire to play professional golf. I truly love the sport. I would love the challenge and experience of being part of a team of like-minded individuals who are all committed to excellence and improving themselves as golfers and as human beings. Doing this in the USA where I am able to meet people from different cultures will I believe greatly enhance my personal development and put me in a great position for my future career whether that is as a professional golfer or not.
  • I realise that only a tiny percentage of truly talented sports people reach the top and often what separates those at the top from everyone else is mental strength and fortitude or something intangible – the X Factor.
  • If I am unable to achieve a career as a professional golfer, I would like to stay close to the game in some capacity. Therefore, it is vital that I continue to succeed and achieve good grades in my subjects.
