Personal Statement
I have played golf since I was about 5 years old. I love it now as much as I did then. My grandad got me into it because he played a lot and I would love to be involved in the game in some way as a profession after college. I have been in the Wales Golf training squads since I was 11. I won the Welsh Under14 & 5’s championships, which made me realise that I could achieve big things. Last year was a big year. I made the cut in all the competitions I entered. This included the McGregor (English under 16’s – where I needed to shoot low to make the cut – I shot a 3 under) and the Welsh men’s amateur, I came 5th in the Welsh Under 18’s. I was part of winning Wales under 16 team in the Quads (v’s Scotland, Holland & Ireland). I also qualified for the Daily Telegraph Junior finals held in Spain – after I shot a 3 under in the North of England Boys first round (this was 4 under nett). I best ever golf was played at the Home Internationals in Royal Dornoch. I did not lose a game in the singles against some top UK players. I am currently studying a BTEC Level 3 in Sports (Golf) in Hartpury College, which I love. I have settled in well and this means that I live away from home. I would love the chance to go to college in America to enhance my golf, to experience living in a new country and make the most of the excellent facilities and coaches. I have heard many good things from my friends who are currently studying in America, the amount of golf time and the new friends they have made. I am very hard working both in my college work and golf. If I gain a place to study in America, I will make the most of it and will always try my best.
