Personal Statement
When I first picked up a golf club at the age of ten I couldn’t understand the pleasure someone could get out of playing the game. I persevered with the game because of the “natural talent” my dad would tell me I had. Then at age thirteen I started to play competitive golf and won my first club competition. Due to my competitive nature this is when I realised my love for the game and my love for winning. After this, all I wanted to do was keep winning and I realised the only way to do this was to keep practising and keep improving. Now three years later I still love to play golf and realise that this is what I want to spend my life doing. My ambition in golf is to play on the LPGA tour but I know that this dream can only be achieved through hard work and determination. I’ve realised that becoming a professional golfer is going to be extremely difficult and that the chances of making professional golf are slim so running parallel to this is my academic ambition to gain a degree in mathematics. This will then give me a backup plan should I not achieve my ambition to play golf professionally.
